CONTACT INFO

There are several ways to keep updated with LUST goings on, this site will be kept updated with details on dates, news, events and photos so please keep an eye out here. We also have a facebook group which can be found by searching for L.U.S.T. or London Swimming. Also please direct any email queries to swimlust@gmail.com and if you are not receiving emails from our mailing list, please email swimlust@gmail.com with the subject “subscribe”. Between those you will never be out of the loop!

TRAINING AND MEMBERSHIP
Our training sessions are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 7-8pm for competitive and non-competitive swimmers and also Wednesday 2.30-4pm and Saturday 4-5pm for competitive swimmers. The sessions are running from this week starting 6th October and you can try a couple of swimming sessions out before committing to the membership. Membership for the year is £45 which covers your entrance to the pool and coaching for the sessions. I will be available in the Energybase reception half an hour before each sessions to sort out the membership and answer any questions you may have. Membership forms are available here http://www.ulu.co.uk/content/index.php?page=83 I will also be handing them out at the pool. To complete the form you will have to have a valid ULU student or associate card for the 08-09 year. Cheques are preferred payment and should be made out to “London University Swimming Team”.

SOCIALS
There are a couple of socials to kick things off this week, we will be heading up the the Duck and Dive bar after training on monday so you can get to know others in the team. Also, on thursday we will be heading out after training to get a curry somewhere close by to the pool. Arun has been busy planning lots of socials for the rest of the term and information will follow on these from him shortly.

OXFORD
On 25th October we are off to Oxford for a friendly gala with 50/100m races. The gala is very relaxed and is a good opportunity to get some up to date times. If you are not interested in competing then don’t worry - after we get the swimming out of the way we head out into Oxford with the other swimming teams for a social which has yet to disappoint. If you are interested in attending I have a sign up form for you to register your interest. This is not a commitment, its just so we can have an idea of numbers and who is interested.

BUCS SHORT COURSE
The BUCS (previously BUSA) Short Course entry deadline is rapidly approaching. It will be held at Ponds Forge on 14th-16th November with teams from almost all the Universities in the country competing. Not only is it an excellent competition its also a really fun weekend. So, could anyone who thinks they may want to compete in this event contact me or Jo either by email or down at the pool, ideally by the end of this week.

I think that covers most essential information for now. I hope to see lots of you at the pool in the coming week.

Freshers Fayre and Membership

Just a reminder that its the ULU Freshers Fayre in the ULU Building this Friday (3rd) afternoon. We will be available to sign up members and answer any question you may have before heading to Duck and Dive for some post-fayre drinks so come along and get involved!
Membership is £45 for the whole year which includes entry to the pool for all the five sessions a week (you don’t need an energybase membership) as well as the coach on poolside for the sessions. Bargain!

Information for New and Returning Members

New members or returning members for the 2008-2009 year can find us at the ULU Freshers Fair which is held on Friday 3rd October in the ULU Building (map in contact section). We’ll be available to sign up new members for the club and also answer any question you may have. If you are unable to make the Freshers Fair or want to start training before 3rd October then please come down to the pool (tell the people at the energybase desk you are here for swimming) on one of our training sessions and ask for a committee member and we’ll help you with joining or answer any questions you may have. Membership of LUST for the year covers entry to the pool for all of our sessions as well as the coach so it is not necessary to join the Energybase gym unless you want to swim outside of our sessions or use the gym itself. If you have any other questions please send them to swimlust@gmail.com.

Look forward to seeing you in the new term!
